The Centre's interlocutor on the Kashmir issue N N Vohra on Tuesday began talks with J&K leaders starting with CPI leader Abdul Rehman Trakroo, but there was no indication that he would be meeting separatist leaders.
The meeting with the CPI leader lasted nearly 30 minutes during which Trakroo briefed Vohra about his party's stand on the Kashmir issue and the present situation in the valley, official sources said.
The 66-year-old bureaucrat would be meeting a National Conference delegation led by its president Omar Abdullah later in the evening.
The NC will suggest autonomy for the state as one of the solutions to the vexed problem, party sources said.
Vohra is expected to meet delegations of the Congress, the ruling PDP, the People's Democratic Forum (led by CPI-M General Secretary Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami), former chief secretary Mir Nararullah and others during the course of his week-long stay in Srinagar.
State Housing Development and Tourism minister Ghulam Hassan Mir would present the state government's stand during the talks with Vohra.
No separate invitations have been extended to any of the separatist parties or individuals, the sources said.
