Tests conducted on a suspected SARS patient, who came to Mumbai from Bangkok on Saturday, proved negative, hospital sources said on Monday.
The person was admitted to the Kasturba Gandhi Hospital on suspicion expressed by the airport doctors as he had high blood pressure and slight breathlessness.
"However, he did not have high fever or cough," they said adding he would be discharged on Monday evening.
He had spent long hours in Hong Kong and boarded the flight from Bangkok to India, the sources said.
Asked about the concern such false alarms were causing, the sources said doctors did not wanted to take any chance.
"The SARS virus -- a modified influenza virus -- is a short-lived one" and the anxiety about the infection would subside after two months, doctors at the hospital said.
