SP, Congress MLAs willing to
support us: BJP

Party general secretary and spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi made this announcement two days after eight independent legislators ditched the Bahujan Samaj Party-BJP government.

Reacting to reports that dissident party MLA's had rejected the state unit's offer to arrange a meeting with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Naqvi said, "There was no such proposal. Much earlier, they were told that if they wanted party president M Venkaiah Naidu and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani would meet them to listen to their grievances."

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had sought an appointment with Congress president Sonia Gandhi to discuss a possible change of government, had claimed on Saturday that as many 15 BSP legislators wanted to break free.
