Salman Khan shifted to crime branch cell

Is Salman a media victim? | Controversy's Child

Film actor Salman Khan, who was remanded to three-day police custody on Monday in connection with a hit-and-run case, was shifted from suburban Santa Cruz lock-up to the crime branch cell at Crawford Market in central Mumbai on for detailed interrogation.

The actor spent much of his time in silence without interacting with the rest of the inmates, police sources said.

Salman would not be provided with home made food, as his lawyer was yet to make an application for the same, the sources added.

Joint Commissioner (law and order) Ahmad Javed said the actor would be treated as an ordinary inmate.

The police questioned the actor on the mode of payment made for the purchase of the Land Cruiser as well as other details about the place of purchase.

The actor was also likely to be questioned on the possibility of underworld being involved in the purchase of vehicle, a senior police officer said.

Salman had told the police that the car belonged to one Abdul Rahim, who lived in Kerala. But the police had failed to trace the owner of the vehicle so far.

If the interrogations threw new light on the matter, the police could slap additional charge on the star for owning 'benami' property.
