The Bihar police is all set to question Railway Board Chairman I I M S Rana in connection with his reported remarks about the involvement of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence behind the Rajdhani Express accident, in which over 100 people were killed and 154 injured.
Police sources said questioning Rana was necessary to probe the sabotage theory behind the accident. During a press conference on September 10 in Delhi, Rana had said the ISI was involved in the tragedy. He had also stated that sabotage was the cause of the accident.
The police had already questioned some senior railway officials of the Mughalsarai division in this connection.
Police officials said Rana would be asked to prove his remarks about the involvement of the ISI.
Aurangabad District Superintendent of Police Sunil Jha told rediff.com that Rana could be questioned on anything. "So far we have not decided when to question Rana," he added.
Jha has lodged a complaint with Commissioner of Railway Safety Mahesh Chand that the Rajdhani Express accident site sketch prepared by railway officials has been doctored to suit the sabotage theory propounded by the railway top brass.
The railway personnel who have already been questioned in connection with the accident include section engineer Biswajeet Naskar, permanent way inspector Y N Singh and the Rafiganj storekeeper Maheshwar Mishra.
The Aurangabad police suspect the trio of planting evidence at the accident site to establish the sabotage theory of the accident. However, no arrests have so far been made in this connection.
