Ranvir Sena area commander arrested

An area commander of the banned Ranvir Sena and an accused in the Bathanitola massacre was on Saturday arrested in Dulamchak village in Bihar's Bhojpur district, a top police official said.

Mangal Rai was arrested when a team of the special task force (STF) led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Rashid Zama conducted a raid on the village in the morning, Inspector General of Police (Operations) Neelmani told PTI.

One SLR, a gun and about 143 live cartridges were recovered from Rai, he said.

Twenty-one persons were killed in the Bathanitola massacre in Bhojpur district on July 21, 1996.
