Pakistan snaps militants' wireless links: Report

Pakistan government has blocked the wireless communication system used by militants on both sides of the LoC, a media report claimed on Tuesday.

The militants fighting in Kashmir now have no link with their base camps or with other ultras in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as Pakistan has blocked the wireless system being used by them, Nawai Waqt reported.

Claiming that the government has begun taking practical measures to stop jihad in Kashmir, it said the blockage of the system has ended the 'link' between Kashmir and PoK.

According to the newspaper, the militant outfits strongly protested the move demanding early resumption of the network.

Even Hurriyat leaders had been using this link to be in touch with each other, it said.

Militants had developed this wireless system on their own by installing a number of boosters on high peaks in Kashmir.

They had obtained the wireless link during the Afghan war and later started using it in Kashmir, it said.

Quoting sources, it said the Indian army too had a number of sets of the same wireless system for monitoring militant activities.
