Pak not interested in improving relations with India: Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday condemned the killings of several civilians and families of army personnel and said the world should now realise that Pakistan is not interested in improving relations with India.

"Every country, which champions the cause of human rights and preaches India to maintain utmost restraint, should now realise that it is New Delhi which has been at the receiving end for maintaining patience," Abdullah, who arrived in Delhi from London, said.

The chief minister said this was an opportune time for the US Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca to visit the site of the militant attacks in Jammu and see what miseries Pakistan had been inflicting on the state by targetting innocent civilians.

"This would help her and the policy makers in the United States to chalk out an effective plan for eliminating terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pak-occupied Kashmir," Abdullah said.

The chief minister, who was earlier scheduled to meet the central leadership in Delhi, rushed to Jammu to make an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs Omar Abdullah said militants, who carried out such 'cowardly' attacks, were a 'scar on Islam'.

"Islam teaches to protect innocents. I wonder what type of teaching these people get from across the border and what type of Islam they were being taught," Omar added.
