Over 100 arrests under POTO: Advani

Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Tuesday said over a hundred people had been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance from different parts of the country.

In a reply to the eight-hour debate on the anti-terrorism bill in a joint session of Parliament, Advani said these included 91 arrests in Jammu and Kashmir and 18 in Delhi.

In Maharashtra one person, Mohammed Afroz, was arrested under POTO. The Mumbai police had requested the court, which was hearing the case, to drop the POTO charge against him, he said.

Of the 18 arrested in Delhi, Advani said four persons were held in connection with the December 13, 2001, attack on Parliament.
