Civilian killed, two hurt in Pakistani shelling

A civilian was killed and two people injured on Monday, when Pakistani troops shelled border villages in Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

A defence ministry official said the heavy overnight mortar shelling took place in Balakote village, killing the civilian and injuring his brother.

He added that the Pakistani troops also fired heavy artillery and mortar shells on Poonch town and on Bhavani village in Rajouri district injuring one civilian.

There was no immediate comment from Pakistani authorities.
