Sena-BJP claim 'loss of faith' in state machinery

The Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party combine on Thursday informed Maharashtra Governor Dr P C Alexander that it had "lost faith in the state machinery" following police raids on a Mumbai club, where the Nationalist Congress Party defectors were lodged.

A Sena-BJP delegation led by Narayan Rane, Leader of the Opposition in the assembly, and BJP leader Gopinath Munde met the governor and submitted a letter registering their protest over the use of the police force against those who had severed ties with the Democratic Front government.

They said that the legislators' lives were in danger and demanded protection by the Central Reserve Police Force.

NCP legislator Vinay Khore, who had withdrawn support to the government, accompanied the delegation that met the governor.
