Prabhat Kumar sends in
resignation to President

The controversial year-long tenure of Prabhat Kumar as Jharkhand governor came to an end on Thursday night with the former Union cabinet secretary submitting his resignation to President K R Narayanan on Thursday night.

Kumar came under intense media scrutiny after the Flex Industries managing director Ashok Chaturvedi, booked in a duty evasion case, allegedly told the CBI that he had footed the expenses for some parties hosted at Kumar's residence when he was the Union cabinet secretary.

Kumar had on Wednesday denied the allegations.

Accompanied by his wife, Kumar reached the capital from Ranchi on Thursday night and shortly after sent in his resignation to the President.
