The Jammu and Kashmir police invoked provisions of the controversial Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO) for the first time in Jammu region on a woman suspect.
Gulabi, wife of a slain Hizbul Mujahideen militant, was arrested on charges of working with militants in Sumar village of Banihal in the hilly Doda district two days back, according to police sources.
"She was providing information to the militants about the movement of security forces," said a police officer adding "we recovered Rs 40,000 from her house."
Police later sealed the house.
This is also the first time that a woman has been arrested under POTO in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
