Mohd Afzal remanded to police custody

A Delhi court on Tuesday cancelled the judicial remand of Mohammad Afzal, the prime accused in the December 13 attack on Parliament, after police claimed to have come across some new facts about some international phone calls made just before the strike.

Designated Judge S N Dhingra remanded Mohd Afzal to one day's police remand to facilitate his custodial interrogation after investigating officer Rajvir Singh informed the court that the police came to know that the accused had made international calls from his cell phone before the attack.

Mohd Afzal, who was produced in the court four days prior to the expiry of his judicial remand, said he is willing to cooperate with the investigation.

Afzal has been booked under the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO).
