India may have carried out a nuclear test: Musharraf

President Musharraf has said that India may have clandestinely carried out a nuclear test.

Speaking at a meeting organised by the Wilson Center and Carnegie Endowment on Tuesday, Musharraf said: "The missile test carried out by India and some information, some news even by media, (about) the possibility of a nuclear test is most untimely, and, may I also say, provocative."

When Bob Hathaway, executive director of the Wilson centre, asked whether he could clarify his statement Musharraf replied, "There are certain indications and I did share this information with the United States leadership. I cannot give conclusive evidence of it but I thought if at all there is a possibility it should be checked."
