Two CPI (ML) supporters gunned down in Bihar

A M Sahay in Patna

Suspected Ranveer Sena activists gunned down two supporters of the CPI (ML) in Jehanabad district of Bihar, official sources said on Wednesday.

The Ranveer Sena is a private army of the upper caste people.

According to police sources, 60-year-old Ram Vilas Paswan and his 30-year-old son Kamta Paswan, were killed outside their house in Mirzapur village, 60 km from Patna, on Tuesday evening.

District Superintendent of Police Dr Kamal Kishor Singh said that police forces were deployed in sensitive places to check any untoward incident following the killing.

CPI (ML) leaders have condemned the killing.

A fortnight ago, suspected Ranveer Sena men had gunned down five persons of a particular caste under Tekari police station in Gaya district.

Only last week, police had arrested 11 hardcore members of the Sena in Jehanabad for their alleged role in the killing of five persons in January.

In the last three years, the Ranveer Sena has been involved in several mass killings in Gaya, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Bhojpur and Nalanda districts.

It has vowed to kill lower caste persons in retaliation to the killings of rich landowners by Leftists (Maoists) who have waged a bloody class war in the five districts for more than three decades now.
