Six militants belonging to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba outfit and one army jawan were killed on Thursday as a major infiltration bid was foiled, along the Line of Control in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The encounter at Krishna Gati along the LoC, was still continuing and at least two terrorists are believed still trapped, an army spokesman in Jammu said.
The spokesman said the troops noticed some movement near the LoC at about 0200 IST and challenged the infiltrators, who opened fire and tried to flee. The army personnel retaliated and encircled the group killing six of them.
As many as six AK rifles, 12 magazines, 300 rounds, four hand grenades and a large quantity of ammunition and some food items were recovered from the slain terrorists, who are believed to be Pakistanis.
In another incident, two infiltrators were killed at Domel Nallah in Ramnagar sector of Jammu and Rs 1,100 of Pakistani currency was recovered from them on Wednesday, sources said.
