The Jammu and Kashmir government has freed from detention an All-Party Hurriyat Conference leader, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, official sources said on Sunday.
Bhat, vice-chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, was arrested on January 13 under the Public Safety Act. He was released from the Joint Interrogation Centre in Srinagar on Saturday evening, the sources said.
He spent most of his detention period in KOT-Balwal jail in Jammu and was released on November 13 after the expiry of the term.
But the police re-arrested him and lodged him at Talu Talab police station in Jammu. He was brought to the JIC a few days ago and let off on Saturday.
