Six militants were killed in separate encounters in Udhampur and Doda districts of the Jammu division on Thursday, a defence spokesman said.
Security forces launched an operation in Mahore area of Udhampur district on Wednesday night after receiving information about the presence of militants and killed four ultras in a gunbattle on Thursday morning, he said.
Four AK-47 rifles with some magazines were recovered from the slain militants, whose identities are yet to be ascertained, the spokesman said.
In another operation at Gool tehsil in the same district, security forces gunned down one militant and recovered an AK-56 rifle with some ammunition from him.
Security forces also shot dead one terrorist in Gandoh area of Kishtwar tehsil of Doda district, he said, adding one grenade launcher, two hand grenades, one wireless set and some other electronic gadgets were recovered from the slain militant.
In another incident, militants killed a civilian at Pangai village of Thanamandi tehsil of Rajouri district, official sources said.
