The Gujarat unit of the Congress party on Wednesday said the state Cabinet move to defer a decision on the dissolution of the assembly showed that the Chief Minister Narendra Modi was 'scared of going to the polls'.
"Woh dar gaye hain (They are scared)," GPCC president Amarsinh Chaudhary said.
He said the move 'exposed' the chief minister's lack of 'guts' to face the electorate of Gujarat after making tall claims in getting their overwhelming support.
Chaudhary dismissed suggestion that the state Cabinet decision was due to pressure from NDA allies saying 'in that case Modi should have resigned'.
"The pressure from NDA partners is on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee," he said.
