Syed Muzakkir alias Munna Jhingada, who allegedly led the six-member team that nearly finished off Chhota Rajan in Bangkok on September 15, 2000 has been discharged by the Royal Thai Police.
According to Crime Branch Officials in Bombay, Munna Jhingada, so named for his thin prawny physique, has managed to sneak into the country and is presently holed up in the city.
Apparently, after Chhota Rajan escaped from the Bangkok hospital, the case against Munna did not have any legal standing especially since he was not identified by Rajan who was the only one to survive the attack.
Owing to the lack of evidence and absence of any eye-witnesses, the case against Jhingada petered out.
Police suspect that Jhingada may have been assigned a new mission by his boss Chhota Shakeel.
Jhingada was last arrested by the Bombay police in December 1997.
He is the prime suspect in several murders, including that of Jitendra Dabholkar, Khushal Chand Jain, Mahindra Patil, Akbar Sardar, Mohammad Ansari, Prakash Naik alias Gotiya and Papu Ansari.
