The Supreme Court on Saturday allowed two of the three Hinduja brothers accused in the Bofors bribery case to leave the country.
In an interim order passed by a two-judge bench, comprising of Justice M B Shah and Justice Y K Sabharwal, the two brothers -- G P Hinduja and S P Hinduja -- were asked to furnish bank guarantees of Rs 150 million each before leaving the country.
The Hinduja brothers had moved the apex court against an order of the Delhi high court which had turned down their plea to leave the country.
Briefing newsmen, the counsel for the Central Bureau of Investigation, N Natrajan, denied that the order was a set back to the investigating agency.
The order is applicable till August 20 and the next hearing in the case will take place on August 7.
Defence counsel Kapil Sibal was beaming when he came out of the court no 8 after the hearing.
The Hinduja brothers drove away without speaking to the waiting newspersons.
