Cheney hospitalised

United States Vice President Dick Cheney was hospitalised in Washington DC on Monday after feeling discomfort in his chest over two days.

Media reports said that doctors were planning to perform a "repeat catheterisation".

United States President George W Bush said it was a precautionary measure.

Cheney has had four heart attacks previously.

Cheney had suffered a slight heart attack on November 22, 2000, but quickly resumed his hectic schedule during the Bush transition.

He had suffered his first heart attack when 37 and had undergone quadruple bypass surgery in 1988 to clear clogged arteries. After his latest heart attack, doctors discovered a heart artery 90 per cent blocked and implanted a stent.
