Two Bangladeshi infiltrators
killed in Assam

Two Bangladeshi infiltrators were killed by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at Mankachar in Assam's Dhubri district on Wednesday.

A BSF patrol party spotted a group of seven Bangladeshis sneaking into the Indian side of the border through Kaluchar and asked them to stop, but they refused prompting the security personnel to open fire, Dhubri Superintendent of Police P C Bordoloi told PTI over phone.

Two infiltrators were killed in the shooting, while the others escaped, he said. Some ganja (psychotropic substance) and other contraband was recovered from the slain infiltrators.

Patrolling along the Indo-Bangla border in the Mankachar sub-division was intensified following the April 16 killing of 15 BSF personnel by Bangladesh Rifles.

BSF sources said in Guwahati that patrolling along the border would be further intensified.
