Pak rules out compromise on J&K: PTI

K J M Varma in Islamabad

Pakistani military ruler General Pervez Musharaf told a meeting of army corps commanders that Islamabad was not ready to make any compromise on the Kashmir issue.

He also spoke at the two-day meet, which began on Monday, about his talks with Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Vijay K Nambiar recently and expressed hope that the Indian Government will issue travel documents to Hurriyat leaders to enable them visit Islamabad for talks, media reports said on Tuesday.

The delay in issuing travel documents may "fritter away" chances for resumption of talks on Kashmir, he was quoted as saying.

Comprehensive discussions were held during the meeting on the situation along the Line of Control as also developments on the Kashmir issue and the situation arising out of coming into effect United Nations sanctions against Afghanistan's Taleban leadership, which is a close ally of Pakistan.

An official statement on the meeting said that corps commanders on the first day reviewed matters relating to regional security.

While highlighting the brief official statement, Pakistan's media gave wide coverage to issues that figured at the conference.
