At least one child died and 3 others children fell ill after they were administered polio drops in a remote village in Orissa. This is the second such incident in the last fortnight in the state.
According to sources, barely 24 hours after consuming polio drops, a baby died and 3 others fell ill in Singiti village of Mato panchayat near Chandbali two days ago.
The ill children were rushed to hospital.
Sources said on December 26 about 57 babies from the village were administered polio drops and DPT vaccines. But twenty-four hours after they were administered the drops, the 10-month-old baby girl of Subash Pradhan fell ill. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she died the next day.
It was also reported that the 11-month-old son of Prafulla Nayak, 10-month old son of Kailash Sethi and 10-month-old daughter of Pitabas Sethi of the same village were admitted to the hospital after they fell ill.
