CCS discusses Pak troop movements along LoC

Tara Shankar Sahay in New Delhi

The Cabinet Committee on Security noted on Monday Pakistan's troop movements along the Line of Control with External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh emphasising that "the government is aware of it".

Talking to reporters after an informal meeting of the CCS at Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Race Course Road residence, Singh said the government was aware of the developments along the LoC.

He said the CCS reviewed the police investigation into Thursday's terrorist attack on Parliament and briefed the prime minister about it.

Singh said Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani would make a statement in Parliament on Tuesday on the investigations and the government's next step and declined to answer any questions.

"I cannot answer your questions," he repeated when a reporter asked him to react to a report that Pakistani army personnel had had their Eid leave cancelled and been asked to report to "front duty" along the LoC.
