Terrorists intended to take
hostages in Parliament

Intelligence officials believe that the five militants who attacked the Parliament House on Thursday intended to cause blasts by detonating explosives they were carrying in their car and bags.

There were over 300 MPs, including some senior ministers, in the building when the attack took place.

Sources said the car in which the militants came to Parliament was loaded with explosives and they intended to detonate them inside the building and then take some MPs hostage.

They said preliminary investigations point out that the car was purchased by two of the suspected terrorists and they gave a Sopore, Baramulla address.

While the number on the home ministry sticker pasted on the car was 3325, the car's registration number was 1527.

The ownership of the car has been traced to Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited, but the company says it had sold the car sometime back.

The militants bought the car from a north Delhi dealer.
