Army procurement scam: CVC initiates action on CAG report

The Central Vigilance Commission has initiated the process of action on findings of irregularities by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in defence purchases, including coffins for martyrs, pertaining to the Kargil operations.

"Officials have been asked to go through the CAG report and asked to initiate action wherever they find irregularities," Central Vigilance Commissioner N Vittal told PTI on the sidelines of a cost-accounting seminar in Delhi.

The CVC has asked its officers to go minutely into the irregularities and initiate action against those who do not come under the purview of the Army Act, he said.
