One terrorists was killed close to the gate leading to the prime minister's office following the attack on Parliament House, Defence Minister George Fernandes said on Thursday.
"One of the terrorists was killed near the gate leading to the offices of the prime minister and the defence minister," Fernandes said.
He said one suicide bomber was killed when he detonated explosives strapped to his body, while three others were killed by security forces near gate number 8 of Parliament.
Fernandes said six Delhi policemen were also killed in the exchange of fire.
Fernandes also did not expect any more terrorists to be in Parliament House precincts. The vehicle by which the terrorists came had been seized.
"All ministers and MPs are safe," the defence minister said.
A close vigil is being kept on the Indo-Pak border and also at the Line of Control and the armed forces have been alerted.
Fernandes said the army had been asked to give a fitting reply to any mischief from across the border.
