Maoist military commander arrested in Nepal

Nepal's security forces have arrested a Maoist commander in charge of the rebels in three provinces, a defence ministry statement in Kathmandu on Tuesday said.

His name was given as Govardhan Gauli.

The statement also said that at least 200 Maoist rebels were killed in clashes last week with security forces at Salleri in north-eastern Nepal.
