Vajpayee on the path to speedy recovery

Two days after knee replacement surgery, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is on a path to speedy recovery and his vital signs are stable.

''He is ok and is doing fine'', Breach Candy Hospital sources told UNI Thursday morning. The sources said that Vajpayee was in a ''cheerful mood'' and post-surgery physiotherapy treatment had already started.

New York-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr Chitranjan Ranawat, who operated on him will issue a health bulletin later in the day.

Sources at the hospital said that Dr Ranawat was satisfied with the post-surgery recovery of the prime minister.
