Bangalore industrialist rescued

The police Thursday rescued industrialist K Narayana Bhat, Namasthe Exports proprietor, with the arrest of three people of a five-member gang at Vemgal in Kolar district of Karnataka.

Director general of police C Dinakar said the arrests followed a raid on an eatery on the highway to Madras. Two members of the gang, which had kidnapped the industrialist, escaped.

Bhat, now with the Kolar police superintendent, said in Vemgal that he was safe. He is being brought to Bangalore.

Two of those arrested are from Bangalore and one is from Bangalore rural district. The driver and cleaner of the van, used for the offence, escaped.

The police seized three crude revolvers, three refilled cartridges, a dagger, two mobile telephones, including one belonging to Bhat and a pager from the arrested.
