Lone for tripartite talks with Pak

Senior Hurriyat leader Abdul Ghani Lone has asked India to demonstrate its "sincerity" to its ceasefire by agreeing to tripartite talks with Pakistan and suggested that the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir on both sides of the Line of Control be allowed to discuss measures for an early solution to the Kashmir issue.

"India should participate in tripartite talks with Pakistan and Kashmiri representatives to ensure an early solution of the Kashmir problem if it is sincere to its recent announcement of unilateral ceasefire," Lone, who also heads the People's Conference party, said while addressing a gathering in Mirpur in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Sunday.

The ceasefire "is a positive step provided India takes steps to hold talks with the parties concerned to the Kashmir dispute, including Pakistan and the Kashmiri people," Lone was quoted as saying by the local media.

He said the Kashmir issue could be resolved according to aspirations of the Kashmiris through tripartite dialogue.

Lone also stressed on holding an early dialogue among the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, to enable them to discuss measures for the early solution to the Kashmir issue.

Stating that the Hurriyat Conference would endeavour to ensure an early intra-Kashmiri dialogue, he said the Kashmiri leadership from either side of LoC should be given an opportunity to organise such an event.

Lone was accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Forum president Bhushan Bazaz, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Conference Secretary General Krishan Dev Sethi and editor of Kashmir Times Ved Bhasin.
