Jharkhand Party threatens fresh stir

The Jharkhand Party (Horo) will soon renew its movement for a greater Jharkhand state consisting of 26 districts.

At a rally at Torpa on Friday, the party made it clear that it was not satisfied with the government that had assumed power in Jharkhand consisting of 18 districts.

Addressing the rally, party president and former member of Parliament N E Horo said, "The Jharkhand we have got is not the one which we desired for in the course of the movement for statehood.''

He called upon his party activists to fan out to the remotest areas of the new state to mobilise public opinion to wage a fresh struggle for the inclusion of the eight tribal-dominated districts of West Bengal, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh in the new state.

The party's youth wing convener Javed Ansari said the Marandi government was likely to fall because of its own weight and strong internal contradictions said.

Meanwhile, senior leader and former legislator Prashant told reporters that nothing much could be expected from the present government on development. ''A chief minister working under pressure from his allies and bureaucrats cannot deliver anything,'' he said.

The party would soon launch a fresh movement for the realisation of greater Jharkhand and ouster of its chargesheeted governor, he said.
