Vile example of terrorism: Narayanan

E-Mail this report to a friend

President K R Narayanan described the massacre of 35 innocent Sikhs by militants in Jammu and Kashmir this morning as yet another ''vile example of cross-border terrorism''.

Expressing sympathy with the next of kin of those killed, the President hoped that the incident would ''open the world's eyes to the sordidness of terrorism which does not mind spilling innocent blood to coerce civil society and make an impact on the world''.

Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani has condemned the massacre.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Chaman Lal Gupta left for the Kashmir valley by a special aircraft to review the situation following the brutal massacre.

Professor Gupta, a member of Parliament from the Jammu region, was accompanied by T R Kakkar, special secretary, home (J and K affairs) and other senior officials.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, at present in New Delhi, described the killing as the most barbaric and inhuman act.
