Two fake notes, totalling one billion United States dollars, were seized by the police from a resident at Doranda, in Bihar, last night during a surprise raid.

According to the police in Ranchi, the notes were seized after a tip-off.

Senior superintendent of police Gupteshwar Pandey, who led the police team, said the resident, whose identity he refused to disclose, was arrested.

Pandey said the person used to 'sell' the notes for Rs 50,000 each.

Many fake revenue stamps were also recovered, he added.
