Unanswered questions in Sikh priest's murder

Nearly two weeks after Iqbal Singh, a Sikh priest, was found murdered in his apartment near Dallas, and a suspect released on $ 100,000 bond, the police are refusing to say what might have been the motive for the crime.

According to the court documents, the lawyer for Ramesh Wadhwa, who performed satsang with Singh on many occasions, had called the police to say that Singh was "either seriously wounded or dead".

Police documents filed in the court say that the lawyer Thad Sims -- who has refused to speak with reporters -- asked the authorities to go to an apartment complex in which his client, Ramesh Wadhwa, had an apartment.

There, the court papers show, police say they found the body of 51-year-old Singh who has been involved in recent years in establishing a gurdwara for about 120 families near his apartment complex.

Singh has been stabbed to death. Police say they found a broken knife near him. In his closet they found bloody clothes with Wadhwa's name on it.

Wadhwa has reportedly known Singh for several years, and had learnt the tabla from the priest. He had also let out a flat to Singh.

A week before Singh's murder on January 11, Wadhwa had joined Singh at a religious function in Austin.
