Militants attack IAF vehicles,
two porters injured

Two porters on board vehicles transporting Indian Air Force personnel received minor injuries when militants made an abortive attempt to target the vehicles with an Improvised Explosive Device in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, official sources said.

Militants had planted an IED on the main road at Padgampora, about 31 kilometres from Srinagar. It was detonated when two vehicles carrying IAF personnel, on their way to the defence airport at Quil from Srinagar, were passing by, the sources said. The incident occurred around 1115 hours (IST), they said.

The IED, however, missed the intended target but smashed the windscreens of both the vehicles causing minor injuries to two porters on board.

They were shifted to a hospital where they were discharged after being administered first aid, the sources added.

Central Reserve Police Force personnel posted nearby immediately rushed to the scene and detained a passer-by for questioning, the sources said.
