Veerappan has a second daughter

E-Mail this report to a friend

Our Correspondent in Salem

Veerappan has two daughters, not one as is generally believed.

Both were born to his wife Muthulakshmi. The second daughter has been given for adoption to a "rich man", according to Muthulakshmi.

"Yes, we have a second daughter. She is young and beautiful, and is growing up in a rich man's house in Dharmapuri district," she said. "When I gave her for adoption, I promised the family that I would not interfere in their lives or tell anybody."

However, she visits the daughter occasionally.

Meanwhile, Veerappan's older daughter, nine-year-old Vidyarani, was thrown out of school in Mettur. "We knew she was Veerappan's daughter, but the flood of media persons descending on the school, after the Rajkumar kidnap incident, was the last straw" says a school source.

However, the school has promised to reconsider the case, and re-admit Vidyarani, once the din dies down following the intervention by a local police official.

Muthulakshmi says that her husband should be granted amnesty, and allowed to lead a normal life. "He is keen on politics, and may contest the elections," she says.

Locals say Veerappan is keen to contest from either Sathyamangalam or Mettur.
