E-Mail this report to a friend

Prominent film stars, including Tamil superstar Rajnikanth, have offered to meet the bandit Veerappan to secure the release of Kannada matinee idol Rajakumar, who was kidnapped by him from Gajanur near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border on Sunday night.

Popular Kannada film hero Ambareesh, addressing a press conference in the company of actress Jayaprada, MP, said Rajnikanth had informed him that if the emissary of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, R R Gopal, persuades Veerappan, he was willing to walk into the forests and meet him.

Ambareesh said he was also ready to accompany Rajnikanth. Vishnuvardhan, another top Kannada film hero, has also expressed his willingness to join the stars' delegation, he added.

Jayaprada, who has acted with Rajakumar in his latest blockbuster Shabdavedi, said that if she were allowed, she would also join the team with a rakhee to tie on Veerappan's wrist and plead with him to release Rajakumar, a revered star.

The actress-turned-politician also asked the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments to ensure police protection for those actors and actresses who face threats.
