Pope John Paul II's visit to India was a significant event, both for India and for the Catholic Church. For the former, it was the time to redeem itself of the charge of being anti-religious minorities, while for the latter it was an occasion to demonstrate that the Church is aware of the evolving nature of its faith in a non-Christian majority society.

rediff.com, India's leading website, is aware of the importance of the visit, during which the Pope has presided over the meeting of Asian Synod bishops, promulgated the Synod document and led the Holy Mass.

Our team of correspondents brought to you reports of the Pope's functions in Delhi and interviews with important members of the Papal entourage, along with photographs. We webcast the Pope's functions in the capital, including the Holy Mass on Sunday and the inter-faith meet.
