Headmaster punishes lady teacher for 'not co-operating'

The headmaster of a government higher secondary school in Karnataka was suspended for allegedly pouring acid on a subordinate.

The incident occurred at Magadi in Chikmagalur.

District Deputy Director for Public Instructions C V Tirumala Rao said the headmaster was moved to violence because he felt the teacher was not co-operating with him.

Vasantha Kumari, the teacher concerned, said in a police complaint that Krishnaiah poured acid on her on February 23 for not evaluating answer papers properly.

She said she could not file a complaint till now as she was under medical treatment.

State Primary and Higher Education Minister H G Govinde Gowda, who visited Vasantha Kumari in hospital, directed Rao to take strict action against the headmaster.
