Magisterial inquiry ordered into Poonch massacre

The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Mora Bachhi massacre in which 17 members of three families were gunned down by the some unidentified gunmen yesterday.

Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 100,000 to the next of kin of each victim.

An official spokesman said that besides the relief, jobs would be provided by the state government to one member of each bereaved family.

The name of the magistrate will be announced later and he will submit his report at the earliest, the spokesman added.
