Sonia visits injured soldiers

E-Mail this report to a friend

Congress president Sonia Gandhi arrived in Srinagar today on a day's visit to the Kashmir valley.

Immediately after arriving, she left for Badami Bagh Army Base Hospital to meet soldiers who were injured during Operation Vijay in Kargil and other sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.

Wishing them a speedy recovery, Gandhi, who arrived in Srinagar for the first time after becoming Congress president, lauded the troops for defending the country's borders from enemy aggression.

She told them that the entire country was behind them. ''I am confident that you (troops) would dislodge all Pakistani intruders from Indian soil.''

She found the morale and spirit of the injured troops very high. Most of the soldiers she met wanted to go back to Kargil and fight the Pakistani intruders.
