Officers Vishwanathan and Vikram cremated with full state honours

The mortal remains of Lt Col R Viswanathan and Captain A V Vikram, who died in action in Kargil on June 3, were cremated with full state honours in Kerala today.

Viswanathan's body was cremated at his native village Eroor, near Cochin. His brother Venkitesh performed the last rites. Earlier, state Cultural Affairs Minister T K Ramakrishnan received the body, which was brought from New Delhi in an Indian Airlines flight.

Captain Vikram's body was cremated within the premises of his house at Panniyankara near Kozhikode. State SC/ST Minister K Radhakrishnan represented the state government at the funeral.

District Collector Manoj Joshi, Mayor M M Padmavathy, local MP P Sankaran, MLAs M Dasan and Elamaram Kareem were among those who attended the funeral ceremony.
