Navy 'well equipped' to meet Pak nuke strike

E-Mail this report to a friend

Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sushil Kumar has said the Indian Navy was well equipped to survive any nuclear strike by the Pakistan navy.

He was reacting to the reported announcement of Pakistan to equip its navy with nuclear weapons.

The Indian Navy was also equipped to ensure a safe transit through a nuclear fallout, he told the media today.

Referring to Kargil, he said it was a clear case of invasion by the Pakistan army. He said the Indian defence forces, including the navy, were fully prepared to meet the challenge.

Asked about the possible construction of an indigenous aircraft carrier, he said the technical designs were ready and construction would start soon. He, however, did not elaborate.
