A Program For Radical Youth

NEW YORK:

Untold, a program by Youth Solidarity Summer presents features comedy acts, dances, poetry and prose in service of radical causes on August 15 in Manhattan.

Among those who are scheduled to perform are: Aladdin, (stand-up comedy: Aparna Shindhoor, (dance); Imani Uzuri, (vocals); Reetika Vazirani, (poetry); Sharmila (dance) and Suheir Hammad (spoken word).

Gandhi Youth Camp

OLEMA, California:

Subba Rao, a Gandhian who is the director of the National Youth Project, will lead the 13th edition of the Gandhi Youth Camp here.

Organized by the Indo-American Community Service Center, the camp will be held August from 15 to 22 in a facility adjacent to the Point Reyes National Park, about two hours drive from the South Bay.

The camp will focus on the Mahatma's teachings, assertive but non-violent action, and cultural activities that will kindle spiritual interests in the participants.

Fees for the camp varies from $ 250 per one person, $ 425 for two, and $ 525 for three.

The ICSC is seeking volunteers to run the camp and act as mentors. It is also looking for year-round volunteers who will spend about two hours each day in helping run the organization, carry out its outreach, publicity and website programs.
