NetIP-SFBA Plans 2nd Annual Run/Walk Event

E-Mail this report to a friend

SAN FRANCISCO -- Want to walk or run to help raise money for Bay Area's best-known youth organization, Junior Achievement, which is also famous across North America? The September 19th event will be held in the Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

Money will be raised not only from charging a fee for the walkers and runners but also from corporate donations.

Runner Cost: Individuals -- $ 25 registration fee; for a group of five, $100 is the registration fee.

Since 1919, Junior Achievement, the world's largest and fastest-growing non-profit economic education organization has taken an innovative and highly effective approach to inspire elementary, junior high, and high school students to stay in school, to value business and economics, to improve the quality of their lives.

People from all walks of life have volunteered their time and shared their experiences in programs that have reached 250,000 students in the Bay Area, over 2.7 million in the United States, and over 800,000 around the world. The results have been dramatic: independent studies have shown that students who have participated in Junior Achievement programs are gaining an understanding of important business and economics concepts at an earlier age and are understanding them better than those who have not participated.

Junior Achievement has the ambitious goal of reaching 11 million young people annually by the year 2005.

NetIP-SFBA strongly believes that Indian American community's future depends on the quality of education our youth receives, so NetIP-SFBA has decided to make an annual committment to raise funds to support Junior Achievement's cause through Destination Education.

The course is short enough for first-timers (optional 5k route) but offers plenty of challenge for the seasoned veteran as well, so show your support by registering to walk or run on September 19th, in the Bay Area.

See http://www.ja.org and http://www.jaba.org for more information on Junior Achievement.
