Hands on Health, Taste of Ayurveda

HONESDALE, Pa

Instant yoga for all situations; breathing techniques and the best use of homeopathic and Ayurvedic medicines for common ailments. These are some of the subjects to be explored at Hands on Health workshop to be held on September 3 to 6. It is organized by the Himalayan Institute founded by yogi Swami Rama.

There will be demonstrations on cooking based on an Ayurvedic theme.

Instructors include several nutritional experts and Western-trained physicians who have mastered Eastern healing techniques.

$ 200 ($ 190 members) plus two nights accommodation, fee from $ 90 ($ 80 for members) to $ 130 ($ 120 for members).

A Taste of Ayurveda is being offered September 10 to 12, conducted by Practical Ayurveda, a team of health practitioners and educators from Great Britain. The program not only emphasizes the use of Ayurveda to fight current ailments but also the insights from Ayurveda to stop the onslaught of health problems.

The choice of lifestyle, foods that enhance the quality of mind and body will also be discussed. Insights and tips into breathing exercises and meditations are also offered.

Among the instructors is Peter Glover, the director of the Himalayan Institute of Great Britain.

Costs: $ 150 (members, $ 140), plus two nights accommodation, ranging from $ 90 to $ 130.

A workshop on Natural Medicine: Awakening Your Healing Potential, will be held October 29 to 31, focussing on learning the skills and techniques to make the theories of holistic medicine practical. The workshop will help the participants learn to improve the immune system of their bodies.

It will also focus on emotional healing -- "Healing the body by healing the heart." Learn about Ayurveda and homeopathy.
